Former Hollings Staffer Announces Bid for Lt. Governor

With names like Campbell, Thurmond and Wilkins running in competitive 2010 races, how can we leave out Hollings.  No Hollings, by name, is running (that we know of), but a Hollings associate is.  Charleston lawyer and energy expert, Ashley Cooper, announced his Democratic bid for Lieutenant Governor today.

“We’re at the top of the unemployment rankings, but at the bottom of the education list,” said Cooper in a statement.  “Our current leaders in Columbia have failed. We need a new direction.”

An expert in energy policy, Ashley will work towards putting South Carolina at the forefront of the new energy economy – and the jobs that come with it.

“The new energy revolution can spur job creation, protect our environment and make us less dependent on Middle Eastern oil. But we won’t lead this revolution if we keep electing the same group of insiders and career politicians,” added Cooper.
